Visit The Farmer’s Market. Head to the local farmer’s market with the family at least once this summer. Let each child pick out fruits and vegetables they like, then get creative and try to use everyone’s chosen ingredient to make that night’s dinner.
Outdoor Movie Night. Invite the neighbors over (or even set up in a park!), connect a projector to your laptop and show your favorite movies on a white sheet or wall. Go one more step by building an outdoor entertainment center, and don’t forget the popcorn and candy.
Hummingbird Feeder. Keep the kids interested in nature by making a DIY hummingbird feeder out of a liquor bottle, filling it with homemade nectar and hanging it where it can be easily observed. The small birds are fascinating to watch and the kids can then tell their science teachers all about it when school resumes in the fall.
