Kellie Pickler is well-known for supporting the men and women who serve our country. She’s been doing so since her first USO Tour in 2007 and has entertained more than 30,000 servicemen and women in eight countries since then. For Valentine’s Day, she wanted to do something special for our female soldiers stationed in Afghanistan and Kuwait.

Having traveled to Afghanistan on three of her six USO Tours, Kellie knew firsthand how difficult it is to feel like a lady while in the middle of the desert. When she found out about “Ladies Night” hosted monthly by USO centers in the Middle East, she had to get involved. The ladies-only nights give female soldiers a chance to spend time together, pamper themselves and take a break from military life.

“I am grateful to all of our servicemen and women for the sacrifices they make, but I have a special place in my heart for servicewomen,” Kellie said. “They are some brave, beautiful and dedicated women.  That’s why I wanted to do something special just for them this Valentine’s Day.  While our servicewomen are spending this time away from their family and loved ones I wanted them to be able to take a moment and pamper themselves.”

With a team of sponsors including Bed Bath & Beyond, Orville Redenbacher’s Gourmet Popping Corn, Dearfoams and US Weekly, Kellie wrapped up some of her favorite “girlie” items and sent them overseas for a special Valentine’s Day “Ladies Night.” The boxes included items that are hard to come by when stationed in the desert, such as nail polish, slippers, manicure kits, chocolates and chick flicks.

Kellie also popped into the event by Skype to deliver a message of thanks and support. For the locations unable to participate in her live chat due to connectivity restrictions, Kellie sent a pre-recorded message of thanks to play during the event.
